Another successful year for WWF's Earth Hour

Many of Wales' best known landmarks plunged into darkness to mark WWF's Earth Hour on 26 March and joined thousands of people in over 130 countries to mark the event.

Earth Hour is WWF’s initiative which has grown to be the world’s largest display of action for climate change – in 2010 13 million people participated in the UK with 4000 cities and a record 1000 landmarks worldwide going dark including Eiffel Tower in Paris; Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro; Empire State Building in New York; Coliseum in Rome; Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco; Sydney Opera and Las Vegas Strip

Here in Wales a record amount of landmarks plunged into darkness – over 50 participated including Caernarfon Castle, Chapter Arts Centre, National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth, Newport Clock Tower, Swansea’s Civic Centre, the Senedd, St. Davids Hall & Cardiff County Hall.

You can view the highlights by viewing WWF Cymru's official Earth Hour 2011 video.

It’s still not too late to sign up to Earth Hour to show world leaders that you care about tackling climate change. You can register your support at www.wwf.org.uk/earthhour
